I’m a Christian but something seems to be missing…
You are a child of God. You have been delivered from the Kingdom of Darkness and translated into the Kingdom of Light. Colossians 1:12 says that you are a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in light. You have been made new and changed by the power of God’s Word and yet, something seems to be missing.
Jesus promised us in Luke 24:49 that He would send the promise of the Father and we would be endued with power. What power was he talking about? The power of the indwelling Holy Ghost as explained in Acts 1:8 (KJV) “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth”. Just as Jesus had the Holy Ghost and power; (Acts 10:38 (KJV) “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him”) so should we be that we might be enabled to carry out the work that Jesus has called us to. (John 14:12 (KJV) “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”) Just as the disciples needed the baptism of the Holy Ghost to carry on so do we!
But how do we receive the Holy Ghost and His power? The Bible tells us how in Luke 11:13 (KJV) “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” Just like with salvation, we simply ask in faith knowing that our Heavenly Father desires us to have all that He has provided for us. When you accepted Jesus as your Savior spiritual death was eradicated from your spirit. You were born again of God and He became your Father by spiritual birth. 1 John 3:2 (KJV) “Beloved, now are we the sons of God…” 1 John 5:1 (KJV) Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God…”
Don’t let the traditions or doctrines of men rob you of this endowment of power that God has provided for you. The power of the Holy Ghost can transform your life and empower you to do things for God that you can’t do without Him. If you are a believer you can ask and expect to receive the Holy Ghost baptism with the evidence of speaking in tongues just like the believers on the Day of Pentecost! Simply pray this prayer:
Lord Jesus, I come to you in faith believing to receive the baptism in the Holy Ghost. I ask You to baptise me now and fill me to overflowing with the Holy Spirit. I ask You to cause those rivers of living water to flow out of me now. I thank You and receive it now based on the Word of God. Thank you for baptizing me in the Holy Ghost. Amen.
Now that you have received the baptism your spirit will desire to express itself in praise to God. You may not feel anything in the physical but, remember, we walk by faith not sight or feelings. As a born again, spirit baptized believer you have a spiritual prayer language that you can use to praise and worship God. Mark 16:17 (KJV) And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;” You need only to cooperate with your spirit, by using your voice, and releasing your prayer language. Begin now to speak in tongues and praise God! Don’t be concerned with how it sounds just allow your voice to give sound to the spirit.
